Be inspired and get started planning the trip of a lifetime

Do you need to travel the world? Answer these simple questions to find out.
Ever wonder what is the purpose? Why do I sit in traffic day in day out? Do you think the weekends are just "same old same old or how can I escape my 9-5? Are you meddling with the idea of backpacking?
Have you answered yes to one or all of these questions? Then yes, you need to travel the world.   You want to know if it's the right decision to go backpacking.

The next question you are asking is, should I go? My answer is Yes. GO FOR IT! Take a trip that will open your mind, body, and soul because after all memories last a lifetime. So book your flight, make it real and start saving ASAP.

When you're there, you'll lie under the stars and think I should have done this sooner. You'll make entries into your journal with a big smile on your face simply thinking of what you've experienced in just one day.

Once you've booked your flight, start planning your route. Make a list of where you want to go and what you want to see, but don't plan it to perfection. Things will definitely change once you've arrived at your first hostel. Next, buy a good rucksack and a good pair of walking shoes (see our packing guides for more information).

When you get there, the places you've dreamt about will leave you speechless. I cannot begin to tell you how you will feel when you see the flight of the condors, hear the howler monkeys morning chorus and learn about each UNESCO Heritage site after site.

Seeing is believing

Believe us, you cannot undo the feeling of achievement when you climb a volcano, stand next to a glacier, and sit in the middle of a salt desert with no horizon. You will see nature at its purest and it will awaken your inner spirit. You will have no words to describe the beauty that stands before you each and every day. And the best thing is, that you don't need a lot of money to do it. It's why they call it the backpacker life.

You can be wise with your money (see money saving tips) or you can live like a backpacker queen (or king). We met people who bought bikes and cycled the length of Chile. Some backpackers worked in hostels to get free food and lodgings for a couple of weeks while others had little time to experience it all.

Trust me, when I say you can take the next step and let your soul be opened to a whole new world. The only thing you will be left wondering is why you never did it sooner. The world is yours to explore.
